Local Spins Wednesday: The Insane Theatre

February 13 @ 8:00 pm - 11:00 pm

February’s Tribute Month continues with the return of The Insane Theatre – tribute to The Doors, a truly impressive group that pays homage to Jim Morrison and company.

Originally formed 18 years ago in Tucson, Ariz., The Insane Theatre is West Michigan’s premier tribute to The Doors. In their theatrical performances, fans hear not only the band’s most popular tunes, but deep cuts rarely played on the radio. True to the tone of the 1960s and early 1970s, the band features: Chris Kemler, the lead singer, who channels the spirit of Jim Morrison in his voice and stage presence; Jim Prange, the keyboard player, who holds down double duty of playing organ/keys and bass (& even back-up vocals), just like Ray Manzarek; Brian Haik, the guitarist, who plays finger-style and blues/melodic slide as Robbie Krieger; JD Jones on drums, who is heavily influenced by jazz, with a style reminiscent of John Densmore.

Local Spins Wednesdays are presented by Local Spins, SpeakEZ Lounge, Perrin Brewing Company and WYCE, with Michigan beer specials on tap and free parking in the Sixth Street Park parking lot off Monroe Avenue NW, a block to the north or the small city lot to the south, nearly kitty-corner from SpeakEZ.
