Science on Tap: Moon-shine: our nearest neighbor seen in a new light

May 11, 2017 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Science on Tap is an opportunity for conversation, debate and interaction between scientists and the public while drinking beer. Each month at SpeakEZ Lounge, a knowledgeable expert hosts a discussion about scientific current topics such as cutting edge cancer detection techniques, climate change and brewing beer.

This is a great chance to exercise your academic interests in a casual setting while enjoying great food and adult beverages!

This month, Dr. Kevin Thaisen, a planetary geologist in the Geology Department at Grand Valley State University, will explore how our perceptions of our moon have changed considerably throughout time. This presentation will include a brief history of some of those early beliefs, delve into how those perceptions significantly changed because of the Apollo and Luna missions, and explore how recent spacecraft from the United States, India, Europe, and China, continue to provide new discoveries about our nearest neighbor.
